Café Slusswakten –
The soul of Karlstad by the canal
Where fire, water, and flavor meet

About Us
By the Pråmkanalen in the heart of Karlstad, Café Slusswakten is where food, culture, and warmth come together.
In a historic waterfront setting, we have created more than just a café and restaurant – a vibrant meeting place where people gather for culinary experiences, music, and moments to remember, all year round.
In our charming courtyard, the bistro comes alive in the evenings, where the charcoal grill takes center stage, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Here, the aromas of fire, food, and music blend in a setting that invites connection and enjoyment.
Through our events, such as the Eldfestival, we bring people together around light, music, and experiences that warm the soul – even during the coldest days of the year.
In recognition of our unique setting and cuisine, Café Slusswakten was selected as a filming location for the internationally acclaimed TV series Kitchen Impossible. Here, flavors, creativity, and culture come together in a setting appreciated far beyond Sweden’s borders – including Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.
Behind the concept is extensive experience, a strong vision brought by Fariba Ranjbar from Iran and Stockholm, and a passion to create something unique in Karlstad – a place where every guest feels truly welcome.
